2012 MLB All-Star Game: C.J. Wilson Backs Out Due To Blister, Jake Peavy Takes Spot

The Los Angeles Angels will have one fewer representative at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game. News came on Sunday afternoon that left-handed starter C.J. Wilson has backed out due to a blister on his throwing hand. Jake Peavy of the Chicago White Sox will replace Wilson on the roster for the American League team.

Wilson has been very good in his first season with the Angels, going 9-5 with an ERA of 2.43. In 111.1 innings on the mound, he has struck out 88 batters and walked 49.

It's a shame that Wilson won't be in Kansas City to participate in the Mid-Summer Classic, but it's for the best. The Angels have made their move in the American League West and the last thing they need is for their ace lefty to miss even more time with a blister issue.
