2012 MLB All-Star Game: Chipper Jones Replaces Matt Kemp On NL Team

It was pretty clear for awhile that Matt Kemp wouldn't play in the All-Star Game. This just makes things official, as Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves has earned a spot on the team.

Kemp is still slated to return to action soon, as he is playing in his first rehab game tonight starting as a DH for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Kemp will participate in All-Star activities in Los Angeles, as he will take part in the Home Run Derby on Monday Kemp is slated to return to the Dodgers in the first game after the All-Star Break on July 13th.

Ryan Braun also becomes a starting outfielder in the All-Star Game by this designation, as the next highest player in the vote ends up replacing the starter in the overall vote.
