Before the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired difference-maker Hanley Ramirez, they were making the full-court press for starting pitcher Ryan Dempster, who had earlier appeared to be on the verge of heading to the Atlanta Braves before that deal fell through.
Mike Axisa at MLB Trade Rumors reports that the Dodgers have reached an impasse with the Chicago Cubs regarding a trade for Dempster. The Cubs' asking price continues to be a bit higher than the Dodgers are willing to go. Now, with the trade deadline approaching, the Braves may be able to step back into the mix and make another push at acquiring Dempster.
The Braves were one of the teams attempting to land Zack Greinke before he went to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
