Dodgers Vs. Padres: Kenley Jansen Throws Game Away, LA Loses 7-6

The Los Angeles Dodgers lose to the San Diego Padres as Kenley Jansen had home stolen with his back turned, and then again as his throw got away from AJ Ellis. The Dodgers went into the top of the ninth leading on the strength of a two run Andre Ethier home run. However, the Padres were able to bounce back to get just their third win over the Dodgers this season in 11 games.

Kenley Jansen was brought in to save a 6-5 game, and had it down to two outs with Alexi Amarista at the plate and men and third and second. Jansen made the mistake of turning his back to home plate, and Everth Cabrera took off from third to home. Jansen's throw was high, making Cabrera safe. In the meantime Will Venable took third, and seeing the ball at the backstop took off for home. On one wild throw to the plate, the Padres took the game 7-6.

With Arron Harang on the mound, the Padres were able to get out to an early lead when Logan Forsythe came in to score in the top of the first inning. Forsythe made it on base via a single, then to third on an error by Juan Rivera at first base. He came around to score on a fielder's choice.

Ethier singled in Mark Ellis in the bottom of the first, to tie the game. The Dodgers took a two run lead in the bottom of the third with Ethier singling in another run and Juan Rivera walking with the bases loaded. The Padres got one back on a Carlos Quentin home run.

The Padres tied it in the sixth on a Chase Headley two run home run at 4-4, but Andre Ethier broke the tie with a two run home run of his own in the bottom of the sixth, his first since returning from injury.

The Dodgers and Padres will play the rubber match tomorrow afternoon.
