Andre Ethier is entering the prime of his major league baseball career, and he's been thriving in the recent years as the Dodgers starting right fielder. He's batted .291, piled up over 930 hits, put up 119 home runs, drove in 498 RBIs, and also has a .363 OBP and a .482 slugging percentage. Ethier has been an all-star outfielder the last two seasons for the National League, and also won a Gold Glove Award last year. This year he's on pace for some impressive numbers, putting up a career high slugging percentage of .518 and has driven 52 RBIs to set the pace for the National League.
It made sense for the Dodgers to try and lock up Ethier as soon as they possibly could, and it appears they're willing to pay him top dollar to keep him here.
It's as @JonHeymanCBS says, Ethier and Dodgers "close" to 5-year, $85M extension with 6th-year vesting option.
