Dodgers Wait For Strasburg To Leave, Beat Nationals Bullpen 7-3

The Los Angeles Dodgers couldn't get much of anything done against Stephen Strasburg Tuesday night. Luckily for them though, Strasburg was on a limit, and the Dodgers rallied for seven runs off the Washington bullpen, leading to a 7-3 win over the Washington Nationals in the second game of a four-game series. Rod Barajas delivered the go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning in a game that was delayed about a half-hour by rain.

Ted Lilly and the Dodgers fell behind 3-0 in the second inning thanks to a pair of doubles and a throwing error by Lilly himself. Strasburg was dominant in his five innings, allowing only two hits while striking out four, needing only 56 pitches to do so.

However, the Dodgers' offense immediately came alive once Strasburg came out of the game. They scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning off Doug Slaten and Brad Peacock to tie the score. The game remained tied at 3-3 until the top of the seventh inning, when the game was delayed by rain.

Once the game resumed, Kenley Jansen pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh after the Dodgers were retired in the top of the inning. In the top of the eighth, Rod Barajas hit a two-run double down the left field line to give the Dodgers the lead. Andre Ethier, who tied the game with a two-run single in the sixth inning, put the game away with a two-run double in the ninth.

Jansen picked up his second win of the season. Dana Eveland gets the start on Wednesday night for the Dodgers, facing Chien-Ming Wang for the Nationals.
