Dodgers Vs. Braves: Dee Gordon Speeds Home With Winning Run In 2-1 10-Inning Win

Juan Rivera drove in Dee Gordon with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning, giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves in the second game of a three-game weekend series at Turner Field in Atlanta. The Dodgers have won six straight games and 11 of their last 12 contests.

Gordon was in scoring position in the first place because of his amazing speed. Gordon hit what seemed to be a leadoff single to center field in the 10th inning, but by the time Michael Bourn got in the routine hit Gordon was standing on second base with a speed double. James Loney sacrificed Gordon to third base to set up the winning run.

Nathan Eovaldi allowed one run in his six innings of work, with the one piece of damage a solo home run by Dan Uggla, who has homered twice in this series. Eovaldi was all over the place on the night, walking five and throwing just 54.2% of his pitches for strikes, but he also struck out five and was the beneficiary of three double plays behind him. Eovaldi has a 3.09 ERA through his first six major league starts and will no move to the bullpen for the remainder of the season as the Dodgers put want to cap his innings. So far this season, Eovaldi has thrown 135 innings between Double A and the majors.

A.J. Ellis got the Dodgers on the board in the second inning with a solo home run, his second home run in five games.

The Dodgers go for the sweep on Sunday morning, with a fellow named Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Decent pitcher, that Kershaw.
