Dodgers Open 10-Game Homestand With Red-Hot Diamondbacks

The Dodgers are 5-7 against the Diamondacks this season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers open a 10-game homestand Monday night hosting the playoff-bound Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium. Ted Lilly starts the opener of the three-game series for the Dodgers, facing Joe Saunders for Arizona. Both teams have been on fire of late.

The Dodgers are 15-4 in their last 19 games, and that includes a loss on Sunday to the Giants, one day after reaching the .500 mark for the first time since May 2. Arizona also lost on Sunday, but their last 19 games have been even better, at 16-3. The Diamondbacks have turned a slim one-game advantage into a commanding eight and a half game lead over the San Francisco Giants in the National League West.

Lilly has a 2.49 ERA in seven starts since the beginning of August, and on the season is 9-13 with a 4.37 ERA. Lilly is 1-2 with a 5.09 ERA in three starts against Arizona this season.

Saunders is 10-12 with a 3.88 ERA on the season, but against the Dodgers has lost three of four starts. In those four outings, his ERA is 3.86, basically the same as his seasonal numbers, but he also has just 13 strikeouts in 26 innings against Los Angeles this season.

Monday's 7:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Prime Ticket. For more news and information regarding the Dodgers, be sure to read True Blue LA.
