Dodgers Recall Linbdlom, Place Guerrier On Paternity Leave; Jamey Carroll Out Of Lineup On Waiver Deadline Day

The Los Angeles Dodgers go for a sweep of the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. Before the game, the Dodgers placed relief pitcher Matt Guerrier on the paternity leave and recalled Josh Lindblom from Double A Chattanooga, per AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. In addition, Jamey Carroll is out of the lineup on waiver trading deadline day amid reports that he has been claimed.

Lindblom was optioned to Double A after the game on August 24 to make room for Kenley Jansen, who was activated from the disabled list. Normally a player can't return to the big leagues inside of 10 days of the option, but it's okay to replace a player on the disabled list, bereavement list, or on paternity leave. Guerrier can miss up to three days on paternity leave.

Here are Wednesday's starting lineups:

Padres (60-76)

Venable CF
Forsythe 3B
Guzman 1B
Blanks LF
Hudson 2B
Gonzalez SS
Cunningham RF
Johnson C
LeBlanc P

The Padres had to get 6 1/3 innings from their bullpen on Tuesday night, so before Wednesday's game they recalled pitcher Brad Brach from Triple A Tucson and optioned Blake Tekotte, per Corey Brock of MLB.com. The Padres are now carrying 13 pitchers.

Dodgers (64-70)

Sellers SS
Gwynn LF
Kemp CF
Rivera RF
Blake 3B
Loney 1B
Barajas C
Velez 2B

Wednesday's 1:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Prime Ticket. For more news and information on the Dodgers, be sure to read True Blue LA.
