Ted Lilly, Dodgers Go For Sweep Of Padres

Ted Lilly is 1-3 in August with a 2.20 ERA in five starts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers go for a sweep of the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon, and seek their eighth win in their last nine games. Ted Lilly gets the start for the Dodgers, looking to finish off his stellar August. Wade LeBlanc starts for the Padres.

Lilly has a 2.20 ERA in August, with eight walks and 28 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings. However, he is just 1-3 this month due to poor run support, but he did win his last start, on Friday against the Colorado Rockies with seven strong innings allowing one run at Dodger Stadium.

Lilly has allowed 28 home runs and 29 stolen bases this season, and seems a cinch to become the first Dodgers pitcher ever to allow a 30/30 season. It could come as soon as today, as Lilly has allowed 13 home runs in nine daytime starts this season. The last 30/30 season by a pitcher was by Gavin Floyd in 2008 with the Chicago White Sox.

The Dodgers are 10-4 against the Padres this season, including 6-2 at Dodger Stadium.

Wednesday's 1:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Prime Ticket. For more news and information on the Dodgers, be sure to read True Blue LA.
