The preliminary rosters for the 2011 Arizona Fall League were announced on Tuesday, and the Los Angeles Dodgers will send nine players. The Dodgers players in the AFL are all on the Salt River Rafters, managed by Stu Cole, current manager of Triple A Colorado Springs in the Rockies' system. In addition to Dodgers, the Rafters have players from the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Detroit Tigers.
The following Dodgers are on the team:
- RHP Steven Ames
- RHP Stephen Fife
- LHP Cole St. Clair
- RHP Josh Wall
- C Gorman Erickson
- SS Jake Lemmerman
- OF Alex Castellanos
- OF Kyle Russell
- OF Angelo Songco (is on the Surprise Saguaros)
Castellanos and Fife were both acquired by the Dodgers in July 31 deadline deals. Castellanos came from the St. Louis Cardinals for Rafael Furcal, and Fife came with catcher Tim Federowicz and pitcher Juan Rodriguez from the Boston Red Sox for outfielder Trayvon Robinson.
The Arizona Fall League begins play on Tuesday, October 4, and each team plays a 38-game schedule running through November 17. Current Dodgers to play in the Arizona Fall League include Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, Kenley Jansen, James Loney, Tony Gwynn Jr., Javy Guerra, Justin Sellers and A.J. Ellis
