Dodgers Vs. Rockies: Matt Kemp Joins 30/30 Club In 6-1 Win

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their fourth straight game Friday night, defeating the Colorado Rockies 6-1 in the opener of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers rallied for six runs in the sixth inning, capped off by Matt Kemp hitting his 30th home run of the season. Ted Lilly pitched seven strong innings for the win.

Kemp became the second Dodger ever to have 30 home runs and 30 steals in the same season, joining Raul Mondesi, who accomplished the feat in both 1997 and 1999. Kemp has 30 home runs and 33 stolen bases on the season in 130 games. Kemp reached the 30/30 club in the 11th fewest games in MLB history.

The Dodgers scored their first run of the night when Esmil Rogers was called for a balk with two outs in the seventh inning. Aaron Miles, who was dancing up and down the third base line, was able to distract Rogers enough to bring home the tying run. Justin Sellers hit a two-run single to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead, and then scored when James Loney hit a towering home run off Matt Reynolds to widen the Dodger lead.

Lilly allowed one run in seven innings for his first win of August despite a 2.20 ERA for the month.
