Dodgers Option Jerry Sands, Promote Trent Oeltjen (Plus Thursday Lineups)

Before the opener of their four-game series in Colorado, the Dodgers optioned outfielder Jerry Sands to Triple A Albuquerque, and purchased the contract of outfielder Trent Oeltjen to take his place on the 25-man roster. Sands showed signs of promise at times, but was hitting just .200/.294/.328 with two home runs in 41 games, and was in a 3-for-35 slump after hitting a grand slam on May 24. The biggest beneficiary of Sands' departure figures to be Tony Gwynn Jr., who is starting in left field tonight.

Here are tonight's starting lineups:

Dodgers (29-34)

Gordon SS
Blake 3B
Ethier RF
Kemp CF
Uribe 2B
Loney 1B
Navarro C
Gwynn LF
Kershaw P

Rockies (29-32)

Gonzalez CF
Nelson 2B
Helton 1B
Tulowitzki SS
Wigginton 3B
Spilborghs RF
Blackmon LF
Morales C
Nicasio P

Tonight's 5:40 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Prime Ticket. For more news and information on the Dodgers, or on tonight's game, be sure to read the SB Nation blog True Blue LA.
