Dodgers Reportedly Sign First-Round Draft Pick Chris Reed
The Los Angeles Dodgers, according to reports, have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Chris Reed, whom the team selected with the 16th pick in the 2011 MLB Draft. The pick is expected to be officially announced by the club on Friday. Reed continued a streak by the Dodgers of nine straight years selecting a pitcher with their first draft pick.

Dodgers Have Signed 14 Draft Picks So Far, Including Second-Rounder Alex Santana
The Dodgers have so far signed 14 of their 50 selections from the 2011 MLB Draft. Their top pick, left-handed pitcher Chris Reed out of Stanford, hasn't yet signed though he just ended his season over the weekend as the Cardinal were eliminated in the Super Regionals of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. NCAA Baseball Tournament: Dodgers First-Round Pick Chris Reed Could Pitch This Weekend For Stanford In Super Regional
Though 16th overall pick Chris Reed has been a relief pitcher at Stanford, the Dodgers plan to convert him to a starting pitcher. Stanford is still alive in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, playing at North Carolina in the Super Regionals, so there is still a chance for Dodger fans to get a glimpse of the future.

With their second round pick in the 2011 MLB Draft, the 73rd pick overall, the Dodgers drafted third baseman Alex Santana from Mariner High School in Cape Coral, Florida. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound right-hander was also used as a pitcher, though the Dodgers listed him as a third baseman when selecting the pick. He is the son of former Mets' shortstop Rafael Santana.
