The Dodgers open a three-game series with the Rockies Monday night at Dodger Stadium. The special 5:10 p.m. PDT start for Memorial Day, complete with one dollar Dodger Dogs, will be started by Chad Billingsley and Jason Hammel. The Dodgers are coming off a series win over the Marlins, their first home series win in over a month.
Casey Blake is out of the starting lineup tonight, getting a day off after playing the last six days, three on a rehab assignment with Triple A Albuquerque and three over the weekend in Los Angeles. Manager Don Mattingly said he felt Blake was dragging a little bit, and Aaron Miles is starting in Blake's place at third base.
Relief pitcher Vicente Padilla threw two innings in a rehab assignment on Sunday with Class A Rancho Cucamonga, and is here at Dodger Stadium today. The plan for Padilla is for him to throw off flat ground, and to see what the next step is, specifically whether another rehab game is needed. Padilla has been on the disabled list since May 19 (retroactive to May 14) with an irritated right radial nerve.
