Dodgers Fall In Ninth Inning To Astros, 2-1

For the second time in three days, the Dodgers lost in Houston on an RBI single in the ninth inning. On Wednesday afternoon at Minute Maid Park, J.R. Towles delivered an RBI single -- snapping an 0-for-32 slump coming into today's game -- with two outs in the final frame off Matt Guerrier, giving the Astros a 2-1 win. The Dodgers dropped a series for the ninth time in their last 10 series.

Ted Lilly allowed a home run on his first pitch of the game, to Michael Bourn, but settled down after that, allowing just one run in his six innings. He was removed for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. Matt Kemp provided the only Dodger offense today, with a solo home run in the sixth inning, his 12th long ball of the season.

Anuery Rodriguez was making just his fifth major league start, and allowed one run to the Dodgers in six innings. The Dodgers, who are 8-16 in their last 24 games, have Thursday off before heading home to face Florida on Friday night.
