Giants 4, Dodgers 3: Lilly Dies By The Long Ball

Two home runs in the sixth inning gave the San Francisco Giants a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night in the finale of a three-game series at AT&T Park in San Francisco. Ted Lilly recovered from early jitters and was relatively cruising into the sixth inning with a 3-2 lead, but home runs by Pablo Sandoval and Mike Fontenot gave the Giants the lead and closed out the scoring in the game. The home run by Fontenot was just the second of his career against a left-handed pitcher.

Rod Barajas hit a two-run home run for the Dodgers in the fourth inning that tied the game at 2-2. The Dodgers took the lead in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI double by Aaron Miles, who had three hits on the night. Jonathan Sanchez struck out nine batters in six innings for his first win of the season for the Giants.

Andre Ethier picked up a single, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Matt Kemp was human tonight, going 0-for-4, which lowered his on-base percentage to .531 on the season. The Dodgers open a homestand at Dodger Stadium against the Cardinals on Thursday. Hiroki Kuroda faces Jaime Garcia in the series opener.
