2013 NBA schedule: Clippers, Lakers start weekend off right with Staples Center showdown

The Battle for Los Angeles continues Friday with the Lakers and Clippers set to met for the second time in the 2012-2013 season.

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

The NBA world will have all eyes on the Staples Center Friday with the Clippers and Lakers set to meet for the second time this season at 7:30 p.m. PT.

The Clippers (25-8) have dropped their past two games following a 17-game winning streak but with Chris Paul's tendency to step his game up against the Lakers, they could easily get back on the right track. Paul has 40 points and 31 dimes across the last two games in which both Los Angeles teams went head to head so fans shouldn't be too concerned about his assist slump lately.

The Lakers (15-16) have been struggling too, dropping two of three after their season-long five game winning streak. They shouldn't be too discouraged though since recent history has strictly favored the Lakers (won four of last six meetings against the Clippers).

After Friday's battle for Los Angeles, the Lakers will have one day off before remaining home to take host the Nuggets. The Clippers will not be as fortunate as they're scheduled to play a Warriors team who has already defeated them twice this season Saturday night.

Check back with SB Nation Los Angeles throughout the weekend for continued basketball updates.
