Clippers Hire Gerald Madkins As Director Of Basketball Operations

The Los Angeles Clippers announced Monday that the team has hired Gerald Madkins as the new Director of Basketball Operations. Madkins will work directly under current team Vice President of Operations Gary Sacks, and will work within all aspects of the team's basketball operations.

Prior to joining the Clippers' front office, Madkins worked as part of the New Orleans Hornets staff as the Vice President of Player Personnel. While in New Orleans, he was responsible for overseeing the scouting staff, managing the salary cap and database, and talent evaluation at all levels.

Madkins starred at UCLA from 1987-1992, where he was a team captain during his senior year. After his collegiate career, he played eight seasons in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors.

He has other West Coast ties as a former executive with the Seattle SuperSonics, now the Oklahoma City Thunder and had a prominent role in the franchise's 2008 draft, where it drafted future stars Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka.
