Tim Duncan had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 108-92. victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1 of their second round NBA playoff series Tuesday night at AT&T Center in San Antonio. Manu Ginobili added 22 points off the bench for the Spurs.
The Spurs lead the best-of-seven series 1-0, and have won their last 15 games. The last loss for San Antonio came on April 11. The Spurs held a 57-49 lead at halftime, then scored the first seven points of the third quarter to take control of the game.
Chris Paul had six points and 10 assists for the Clippers, and Blake Griffin had 15 points and nine rebounds in defeat. But the duo combined to shoot 10-for-30 from the field (33.3%) in defeat
Eric Beldsoe scored a season-high 23 points off the bench for the Clippers, who shot 44.6% from the field in the game. Caron Butler added 15 points for Los Angeles.
Tony Parker had seven points and 11 assists for the Spurs, and Borid Diaw added seven points and 12 rebounds. The Spurs shot 48.8% for the night. They outrebounded the Clippers 47-34, but also committed 18 turnovers.
Game 2 will be held Thursday night in San Antonio.
