Chauncey Billups Injury: Clippers Guard Undergoes Successful Surgery To Repair Torn Left Achilles

Los Angeles Clippers guard Chauncey Billups underwent successful surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon on Wednesday, the team announced on Wednesday. The surgery was performed by Dr. Thomas Clanton at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado.

Billups, who injured the ankle on Monday, February 6 in the fourth quarter in the Clippers' 107-102 overtime win in Orlando, is expected to remain in Colorado for roughly four weeks before returning to Los Angeles to begin rehabilitation. He is out for the remainder of the season.

In 20 starts for the Clippers this season, Billups averaged 14.9 points, 4.0 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game, playing 30.4 minutes per contest. Billups, 35, will be a free agent after the season.

Since stepping into the starting lineup at shooting guard for Billups on February 8, Randy Foye has averaged 10.0 points per game, though Foye had just three points on 0-for-7 shooting in Monday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
