The veteran guard has missed most of the season recuperating from a torn Achilles tendon, only playing in three games so far. After a game against the Utah Jazz, Billups was diagnosed with an inflamed peroneal tendon in his left foot sidelining him this time.
The injury is unrelated to his Achilles injury he suffered on Feb. 6 that required surgery to repair the tear. The peroneal tendon is below the ankle and not behind the Achilles. Billups hasn't been given a specific timetable for when he will return to the court.
The 36-year-old Billups has seen the basketball court for less than 60 minutes this year. Guard Willie Green has stepped into the starting roll, averaging 6.2 points on 48 percent shooting in 18.2 minutes.
