Los Angeles Clippers guard Chauncey Billups sat out Wednesday's game against Dallas with soreness in his left foot. Peroneal tendinitis is the identified injury, reports Eric Patten of NBA.com. Willie Green took Billups's place in the starting lineup. Ken Berger of CBS Sports reports that Billups will be out around a week or so with an inflamed tendon.
The good news for Clippers fans is the injury Billups sustained in his foot is unrelated to the one he suffered this past season. Billups tore his left Achilles on February 6th and had been out ten months following surgery to repair it.
Billups only started playing for the Clippers a few games ago. He started three games since his return, and has averaged about 20 minutes per game, putting up about 7.3 points and 1.3 assists per game. But the injury has lingered, and it has sidelined him for the moment.
The Clippers barely needed Billups as they casually pounded away against the Mavericks in a double digit victory.
