The Los Angeles Clippers knocked off the Memphis Grizzlies, 101-92, on Wednesday night, opening their season with a win.
The game, which went back and forth until Los Angeles pulled away late in the fourth quarter, was a rematch of the teams' playoff series from a season ago. Jamal Crawford led the Clippers with 29 points off the bench. Crawford made 10-of-14 shots, including 3-of-7 three-point attempts. Chris Paul finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points to go along with 12 assists. Lamar Odom made an impact in his Clipper debut, blocking four shots and pulling down six rebounds. Six different Clippers scored in double figures, including Blake Griffin who scored 11 points.
The Grizzlies led, 53-49, at halftime and 77-73 after three quarters, but were outscored 28-15 in the fourth quarter. Rudy Gay led Memphis with 25 points, while Marc Gasol finished with 20 points and seven rebounds. Zach Randolph scored 15 points and finished with a game-high 16 rebounds.
The game had a few tense moments in the fourth quarter with Randolph and Griffin being assessed double technical fouls. The Clippers won despite committing 22 turnovers. This is the 12th straight season the Grizzlies have lost their season opener.
