2011 NBA Draft: Clippers Pick Georgia Forward Trey Thompkins With 37th Pick

The Clippers with their first pick in the 2011 NBA Draft selected forward Trey Thompkins out of Georgia, with the 37th overall pick. The 6-foot-10, 245-pound Thompkins averaged 16.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in his junior season with the Bulldogs. Thompkins was a first team all-SEC selection by the league's coaches, and a second-team all conference selection by the Associated Press.

Thompkins saw himself as a first round pick last month in an interview with Draft Express:

Yesterday, Steve Perrin speculated that the Clippers would take the best player available, mentioning Tyler Green as a possibility. Green went two picks after Thompkins, to Charlotte. The Clippers pick again at No. 47, their second of two picks.
