Clippers Vs. Pistons: Blake Griffin Leads L.A. To 109-88 Win On Road

Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - Blake Griffin put together his 14th consecutive double-double with 24 points and 17 rebounds, as the Los Angeles Clippers downed Detroit, 109-88, at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Ryan Gomes added 18 points, while Eric Gordon chipped in with 15 points and six assists for the Clippers, who won for the first time in 12 tries on the road this season and ended a 15-game skid away from home. Charlie Villanueva came off the bench to score 18 points and grab nine rebounds, while Ben Gordon supplied 15 points for the Pistons, who have lost five of their last six games.

Leading 59-56 early in the third quarter, the Clippers took off on an 14-0 run, capped by a Gomes triple, to forge a 17-point lead with 2:49 to play in the period. The Clippers took an 80-62 advantage into the fourth quarter and stretched the lead to as many as 28 midway through the final session to cruise to their first road win since March 25 at Houston. LA connected on 11-of-19 from the floor to take a 25-19 lead after the first quarter and continued their hot-shooting in the second stanza.

Griffin posted his 20th double-double of the season by halftime with 14 points and 11 boards, as the Clippers held a 51-46 advantage at the break. The Clips knocked down 11-of-20 in the second quarter for 56.4 percent shooting after 24 minutes of play. Griffin made 11-of-17 from the floor for the Clippers, who shot 56.8 percent. The visitors knocked down 10-of-19 from beyond the arc, getting two triples each from Gomes, Eric Bledsoe and Al-Farouq Aminu...Bledsoe finished with 12 points and eight assists, while Brian Cook contributed 12 points and seven boards off the bench in the victory...Detroit shot only 40.2 percent from the field...Tayshaun Prince added 13 points in defeat...The teams split the two- game season series last year, with the visiting team winning each game...Detroit had taken both meetings in each season from 2003-04 through 2008-09.
