The Los Angeles Angels were able to make an early lead hold up against the formidable Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon. The Halos picked up the 3-2 win to secure the three-game sweep of their Wild Card rivals at the Big A.
Mike Trout of course led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run -- his 27th of the year. Alberto Callaspo belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the second, which proved to be the difference in the game. The Tigers finally got on the board as Andy Dirks led off the top of the fourth with a homer. Brennan Boesch added an RBI double in the seventh, but the Angels did not allow any other runs the rest of the way.
Zack Greinke improved to 14-5 by holding the Tigers to two runs on five hits and one walk in seven innings, striking out seven Detroit batters along the way.
The Halos will head into the coming week with a six-game win streak.
