Angels Vs. Athletics Game Preview: Zack Greinke Takes The Mound

The Angels send Zack Greinke to the mound with a chance to gain ground on the Wild Card-leading Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night at Oakland Coliseum. The A's will counter with right-hander Jarrod Parker.

Greinke is 12-5 with a 3.82 ERA on the season, but hasn't performed up to his standards since arriving in Los Angeles at the end of July. With the Angels, the former Cy Young award winner is just 3-2 with a 4.82 ERA. Greinke was solid in his last outing, pitching seven innings and giving up two runs to the Boston Red Sox.

The A's lineup will present a challenge for the Angels. Oakland has been red-hot in the second half and leads the Major League in home runs since the All-Star break.

Parker comes into the game with 9-7 with a 3.72 ERA. He struggled in his last start against the Cleveland Indians, giving up five earned runs on eight hits in just five innings pitched.

Los Angeles can pull within 3.5 games of the A's with a win on Tuesday. It is 3.5 back of the Baltimore Orioles for the final Wild Card spot.

First pitch is schedule for 7:05 p.m. PT.
