The Angels look to break a two-game losing streak as they face the Oakland Athletics at 7:05 p.m. PT in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Oakland has taken the first two meetings of a four-game series with the Angels.
Ervin Santana will take the mound for Los Angeles. The veteran right-hander is 8-11 with a 5.21 ERA on the season. His last start came against the Tigers on Friday, when he went 6.2 innings while giving up just two runs. Santana last faced the A's in May, tossing 7.2 shutout innings.
Oakland counters with rookie A.J. Griffin. The 24-year-old became the first pitcher in franchise history to start his career 5-0 when the A's defeated the Mariners on Friday. Griffin has made 10 starts since his MLB debut on June 24, and has posted a 2.21 ERA in that time.
The Angels are 2.5 games out of the final playoff spot with 19 games to play.
