Angels Vs. Athletics Game Preview: Jerome Williams To Make First Start Since July 19

The Los Angeles Angels continue a key four-game home series with the Oakland A's at 7:05 p.m. PT Tuesday in Angels Stadium. Los Angeles is trying to make a late-season push for the final Wild Card spot, while the A's are still within striking distance of the Texas Rangers for the AL West lead.

Jerome Williams makes his first start for the Angels since July 19. Williams has made 12 appearances out of the bullpen since then, including several in long relief. For the season, he is 6-7 record with a 4.59 ERA. His last start against the A's came on May 21, when he went 6⅓ innings and gave up two runs in a loss.

The A's will send Dan Straily to the mound to try and extend their four-game win streak. Straily has three starts since making his debut on Aug. 3. He faced the Angels in his second start, getting shelled for five runs on eight hits in just 4⅔ innings.

Both these clubs have been hot as of late, with the Angels winning eight of their last 10 and the A's going 7-3 over that span. The Angels have moved to within 1½ games of the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees for the final Wild Card spot. The A's lead the the Wild Card and find themselves just three back of the Rangers.
