The Los Angeles Angels rolled into the O.co Coliseum last week and snapped the Oakland Athletics' nine-game winning streak before sweeping them. On Monday night, the A's returned at least part of the favor, snapping the Halos' six-game winning streak in a 3-1 Oakland victory at Angel Stadium.
The A's scored right away, picking up a run in the first inning on an RBI groundout from Seth Smith. In the bottom of the third, Torii Hunter tied things up with an RBI double. The score stayed 1-1 until the fifth inning, when Brandon Moss homered to give the A's the lead. In the sixth, ninth-place hitter Cliff Pennington added another solo shot for a huge insurance run.
Oakland starter Jarrod Parker picked up his 10th win of the season as he held the Angels to just three hits in seven innings of work. The Angels could only manage four hits in the game. Dan Haren gave up all three runs and took the loss.
This is a big four-game series and the Angels will try to answer back with a win of their own on Tuesday.
