Jered Weaver Injury: Will Pitch Against the Athletics On Thursday

The Los Angeles Angels have announced that Jered Weaver will start on Thursday against the Oakland Athletics after missing a start due to biceps tendinitis.

Weaver threw from 90 feet over the weekend and said he felt great after a bullpen session on Monday. The Angels could use their ace back as they try to stay in the hunt for an AL West crown and take back the AL Wild Card lead. The Angels currently trail the Athletics and the Baltimore Orioles in the wild card chase by one game.

Weaver said his arm has bothered him since throwing a shutout against the A's back on Aug. 6. Since that start Weaver has struggled a bit, punctuated by a three-inning shelling at the hands of the Rays where he gave up nine runs.

He has still been having a quality year at the front end of the Angels rotation. Weaver is 16-4 with a 2.86 ERA and 121 strikeouts.
