Jordan Walden Injury Update: Righty Activated From Disabled List

Angels right-hander Jordan Walden was been activated from the disabled list early on Sunday, according to the team.

Walden was 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA in 31 appearances before being placed on the DL on July 15 with a strained right biceps. The third-year reliever threw a bullpen session Friday after making three rehab starts in the Angels' minor league system and was activated before the Angels' Sunday game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

In order to make room for Walden, the Angels optioned Hisanori Takahashi. In 42 appearances, Takahashi was 0-3 with a 4.93 ERA.

Walden had been used overwhelmingly in a set-up role during the 2012 season, and had given up five runs in his last seven appearances (seven innings) before hitting the disabled list.

Walden made 62 appearances in 2011, recording 32 saves in 42 save opportunities. In 2012, however, Walden has only recorded one save in two opportunities.
