Angels Place Dan Haren (Lower Back Stiffness) On 15-Day Disabled List

Two days after allowing seven runs in 4 1/3 innings in a loss in Cleveland, Los Angeles Angels starter Dan Haren was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday with lower back stiffness. Relief pitcher Kevin Jepsen was recalled from Triple A Salt Lake City.

Haren is 6-8 with a 4.86 ERA in 17 starts this season, and on Tuesday admitted to pitching with lower back stiffness for most of the season. This is the first time in Haren's career that he has hit the disabled list, and he has made at least 33 starts in the last seven seasons.

Haren was slated to pitch on Sunday in the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles, but as of know his replacement is not yet known.
