Angels Vs. Indians Final Score: Ervin Santana Shelled In 12-3 Loss To Cleveland

Ervin Santana was shelled early and the Los Angeles Angels never recovered, dropping their series finale to the Cleveland Indians 12-3 at Progressive Field. The Angels dropped the final two games of their road trip, but still finished the nine-game trek with a winning record at 5-4.

Santana allowed a three-run home run to Michael Brantley in the first inning to give the Indians a 3-0 lead. The Angels answered with a run of their own in the top of the second, but Cleveland put the game away with six runs in the second, an inning Santana did not finish.

Cleveland scored three runs off Santana to widen their lead to 6-1, then Angels manager Mike Scioscia pulled Santana with two outs and two runners on base. Relief pitcher Hisanori Takahashi was greeted by Casey Kotchman with a three-run home run, giving the Indians a 9-1 lead in the second inning.

Mark Trumbo had three hits for the Angels, while Mike Trout singled twice, walked, and stole his 23rd base of the season. The Halos banged out 11 hits off Derek Lowe, but the veteran Cleveland hurler allowed just three runs in his six innings, earning his eighth win of the season.

The Angels return home to Anaheim for a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles beginning Thursday night.
