Angels Injury Update: X-Rays Negative On Albert Pujols' Elbow, Erick Aybar Day-To-Day With Toe Fracture

As the Anaheim Angels look to keep pace with the streaking Oakland Athletics and first-place Texas Rangers, a pair of their important pieces are dealing with some injuries in Albert Pujols and Erick Aybar.

According to CBS Sports' Danny Knobler, X-rays on Pujols' elbow were negative after he swung at an inside pitch in the third inning against the Kansas City Royals last night and was struck on the right elbow. After last night's game skipper Mike Scoscia wasn't too worried about it:

"He's a tough guy. He plays nicked up - and plays very well nicked up."

As for Aybar, the team is calling his injury "a subtle nondisplaced fractured right big toe" and is considered day-to-day.

Center fielder Torri Hunter also got banged up after attempting a diving catch in the sixth inning on the warning track and missing. Hunter would end up bruising a few of his ribs and get pulled form the game.
