Angels Vs. Tigers: Garrett Richards Called Up To Start Tuesday For Halos

After their 8-6 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Monday night, the Los Angeles Angels recalled pitcher Garrett Richards from Triple A Salt Lake in order to start Tuesday's second game of the four game series. To make room for Richards on the active roster the Angels optioned infielder Andrew Romine to Triple A, per Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com.

Richards was 2-1 with a 4.21 ERA in seven games earlier this season with the Angels, including six starts. The right-hander was optioned to Triple A on July 6 after allowing 17 runs in 8 2/3 innings over two starts. Richards allowed eight runs in 3 2/3 innings on July 12 in his one Triple A start since getting sent down.

With the move, the Angels now have 13 position players and 12 pitchers on their active roster.
