The Los Angeles Angels needed to rebound from a rough loss to the Seattle Mariners and they did so in fine fashion on Tuesday night, having little trouble with their opponents in a 6-1 win to even the series.
The Angels went up 2-0 in the bottom of the second on back-to-back homers by Mark Trumbo and Torii Hunter. Michael Saunders led off the top of the third with a solo shot for Seattle's only run of the game.
The Angels added two more runs in the bottom of the third on RBI singles by Albert Pujols and Trumbo, then plated their final two in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run shot by Trumbo. Trumbo's two homers give him 12 on the season.
Trumbo was 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Pujols was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Mike Trout, surprisingly, was 0-for-3 but did draw a walk.
The Angels will go for the series win in the rubber game on Wednesday. Luckily for the Halos, Seattle ace Felix Hernandez was scratched from his expected Wednesday start with an iffy back.
