The Seattle Mariners used a four-run sixth inning highlighted by a three-run double by Munenori Kawasaki to capture an 8-6 win over the Los Angeles Angels Monday night at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. The Angels brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning, but Howie Kendrick struck out and Erick Aybar grounded out to end the game.
Ervin Santana walked six and allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings for his seventh loss of the season.
Mike Trout went 4-for-4 with a double and a sacrifice fly for the Halos, who dropped to .500 on the season (28-28). Kendrys Morales added two home runs from the right side off Jason Vargas, who allowed four runs in 5 2/3 innings for his seventh win of the year.
Todd WIlhelmsen recorded the final five outs for his first save of the season for Seattle.
