2012 MLB Draft: Angels Do Not Pick Until Tuesday's Third round

The MLB Draft will start tonight but it will go through its first day without the Los Angeles Angels making a selection.

The Angels will not make their first pick of the draft until the third round (no. 114) due to the signings of Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson. The Angels lost their first round pick (no. 19) for signing Pujols and their second round pick (no. 83) for signing Wilson. This leaves the Angels with no first-day picks. They'll have to wait until Tuesday to make their first selection.

In 2011, the Angels first round pick was 1B C.J. Cron and in 2010, they had three first round picks (RHP Kaleb Cowart, RHP Cameron Bedrosian, CF Chevy Clarke) and two in supplemental A (SS Taylor Lindsey, CF Ryan Bolden). All except for Cron were taken out of high school. Cron was a senior at the University of Utah when he was drafted.
