The Los Angeles Angels managed to take two of three from the first-place Texas Rangers over the weekend, but they failed to secure the sweep as they were defeated on Sunday by a final score of 7-3.
Elvis Andrus hit an RBI double in the top of the third inning to get the Rangers on the board. Michael Young put the Rangers up 2-0 in the top of the fifth with a two-out RBI infield single.
Erick Aybar hit a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1. The Rangers got the run back in the top of the sixth on an RBI groundout by Ian Kinsler, but the Halos once again cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the frame as John Hester led off with a home run.
Nelson Cruz hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to put the Rangers on top for good, but the Angels managed to pick up one more run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Mike Trout that made it 5-3. The Rangrs plated two final runs in the top of the ninth on RBI singles by Mike Napoli and Andrus.
