On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Angels kicked off a short two-game series against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. The Angels offense showed up again and the Halos were able to power C.J. Wilson to a dominating 7-3 win.
The Angels opened the scoring in the top of the third, as Torii Hunter hit an RBI single to plate Mike Trout. In the top of the fifth, the Angels stretched their lead to 3-0 as Albert Pujols hit his 12th home run of the season, a two-run blast to left center field.
The Orioles answered back in the bottom of the fifth with a leadoff homer by Steve Pearce, but Peter Bourjos answered back with a two-run homer of his own in the top of the sixth to make it 5-1.
The Orioles threatened in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases against C.J. Wilson with one out, but Wilson got out of the jam without surrendering a run. To add insult to injury, Mark Trumbo led off the next inning by driving the first pitch he saw to center field for his 18th homer of the year.
John Hester contributed another solo shot to left field to run the score to 7-1 Angels. The O's were not quite done scoring, as Wilson Betemit hit a two-run homer to right field off of Jason Isringhausen in the bottom of the eighth. The Angels didn't allow another run the rest of the way and locked up the win to kick off their road trip.
Wilson ended up going seven innings, giving up one run on six hits and two walks. His record improves to 9-4 with the win.
The Angels will go for the two-game sweep on Wednesday.
