The ninth inning of Sunday's win has proven costly to the Los Angeles Angels. Both Scott Downs and LaTroy Hawkins were injured on balls hit back up the middle. Hawkins was placed on the disabled list with a broken pinkie finger, per the Los Angeles Times, and David Pauley was recalled.
Hawkins caught a lineout that hit his pinkie, and threw to first base for a game-ending double play as the Angels closed out the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3. Hawkins entered the game because Scott Downs hurt his leg on a ball up the middle. The Angels announced that Downs has a left knee contusion and will be reevaluated on Tuesday in Minnesota.
