Angels Vs. Athletics Final Score: Halos Win 3-1 In 11 Innings

The Los Angeles Angels needed overtime, but they were able to pick up a 3-1 win on Wednesday afternoon to take the three-game series.

Maicer Izturis hit an RBI single in the top of the third inning to drive in Alberto Callaspo and take a 1-0 lead. The Angels managed to hold on for a few innings, but in the bottom of the sixth inning, Seth Smith hit a home run to straightaway center field to tie things up.

The two bullpens duked out out into extra innings. In the top of the 11th, the Angels got runners on the corners with two out and Callaspo managed to drive in Peter Bourjos and Howie Kendrick with a two-run double down the left-field line. Ernesto Frieri then got three outs via strikeout to lock down the win for the Halos.

Jered Weaver did not get the decision, but had another phenomenal game, going eight innings and allowing just three hits and two walks. His only run allowed came on the Smith homer.
