One day after winning a 7-2 romp at Petco Park, the Los Angeles Angels experienced a more typical low-scoring affair against the San Diego Padres in interleague play. The Padres evened up the series with a 3-2 win on Saturday night.
The Angels scored first in the top of the second inning, when Erick Aybar tripled home Howie Kendrick. The Padres tied things up in the bottom of the third on a Cameron Maybin sacrifice fly.
The Halos reclaimed a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth when Mike Trout brought Aybar home with an RBI groundout, but San Diego tied it up again in the bottom of the frame with a Maybin RBI single.
The Padres went ahead for good with an Alexi Amarista double in the seventh inning that drove in Nick Hundley. The Padres bullpen held the Angels down the rest of the way to seal the win for the hometown team.
Dan Haren was one again a hard luck loser, going 6.2 innings and being charged with all three runs on six hits and a walk. Haren falls to 1-5 on the season. The Angels will try for the series win on Sunday.
