The Los Angeles Angels have lost four in a row and are nine games in back of the Texas Rangers in the American League West. They have a record of just 6-13 on the young season and Albert Pujols has one hit in his last 20-plus at-bats. There is already a bit of squabbling, including Torii Hunter publicly second-guessing manager Mike Scioscia's decisions.
But perhaps the biggest woe the Angels have faced this season is their flimsy bullpen. It appeared on Thursday as though they might manage to avoid being swept by the Tampa Bay Rays, but the Halos bullpen once again coughed up a lead and gave up a walk-off home run. The team has issues that need sorting out. They'll try to turn the ship around on Friday, as they kick off a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field.
Probable Pitchers and Game Times:
On Friday, ace Jered Weaver gets the start and goes for his fourth win. The Angels hitters will hope to take advantage of Indians starter Justin Masterson, who is 0-2 with a 6.65 ERA. The game will begin at 4:05 p.m. and will be televised on FOX Sports West. You can listen to the game on 830 KLAA.
Saturday's game will have hard-luck pitcher Dan Haren looking for his first win of 2012 as he goes up against Jeanmar Gomez, who is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA. The game will begin at 10:05 a.m. and will be televised on FOX Sports West. You can listen to the game on 830 KLAA.
In the finale on Sunday, Ervin Santana will look to turn his own disaster of a season around, as he enters the game 0-4 with a 7.23 ERA. He'll go up against veteran Derek Lowe, who has looked very sharp this season with a 3-1 record and a 3.00 ERA. The game will begin at 10:05 a.m. and will be televised nationally on FOX. You can listen to the game on 830 KLAA.
