Angels Vs. Dodgers, Freeway Series: Dan Haren Sharp In Final Spring Start

Dan Haren concluded his magnificent spring with another solid outing on Monday night, pitching into the sixth inning while allowing just one run in the Los Angels Angels' 12-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first game of the Freeway Series at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

Haren allowed a run on six hits, with no walks and five strikeouts. He finished his spring with a 3-0 record, a 2.05 ERA, and 25 strikeouts with only two walks. He will start Saturday for the Angels in their second game of the regular season, hosting the Kansas City Royals in Anaheim.

Monday was also the first game in Anaheim for Albert Pujols, who signed a 10-year, $240 million contract in the offseason. Pujols sounded like a man at ease with the pressures of being Albert Pujols.

"I know I've had good success, but I'm always thinking about having the best season I've ever had," said Pujols, per Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com. "Those are things that I focus on. And it's not just for me, it's for the whole team. In the end, that's what you play for -- to be a champion. All that matters is how many rings you have when you retire."

Ervin Santana takes the hill for the Angels on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium against Aaron Harang of the Dodgers.
