Angels Spring Training 2012: Albert Pujols Not A Concern For Mike Scioscia

Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia has plenty on his plate during 2012 Spring Training. He' s dealing with an extremely cluttered depth chart, trying to soothe egos of veterans like Bobby Abreu, attempting to guide youngsters like Mark Trumbo into new roles and new positions and keeping tabs on players recovering from injuries like Kendrys Morales. One thing he won't have to worry about is new arrival Albert Pujols.

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports that the slugging first baseman showed up to Spring Training with a very specific and proven workout program that he has developed over the past 11 years to get himself ready to go by Opening Day. This allows Scioscia and his coaching staff to focus on the question marks, since no one believes Pujols will be a problem heading into the season.

And as for Morales, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register checked in with his daily Morales update on Sunday to say that Morales has begun running from first to third on the outfield grass and will begin running on dirt in the next few days.
