Spring Training will soon be drawing to a close for the Los Angeles Angels, but they kept themselves busy with three games on Thursday and Friday. The games featured strong and promising showings from a returning player.
In his long-awaited return to the Angels lineup on Thursday, Kendrys Morales went 2-for-3 with a run scored in a 7-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
On Friday, the Angels played a pair of split squad games. Their first was an away game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix, where the Angels again prevailed by a final score of 6-3. Mark Trumbo was the big contributor for the Angels in that game, with two hits, two runs and an RBI, which came on a solo home run in the eighth inning.
The nightcap for the Angels was another away game, this time against the Cleveland Indians. Los Angeles picked up yet another win and Morales picked up another two hits, one of them being the first home run since he broke his ankle celebrating a walk-off shot in May of 2010. Maicer Izturis batted leadoff and had a three-hit day. The Angels came out on top, 4-1, to improve their Cactus League record to 11-8.
