The Los Angeles Angels will open their 2013 spring training season against the Chicago Cubs in Tempe, Ariz. on Saturday, Feb. 23, the team revealed on Monday.
Tickets to the Cactus League games will be available to purchase starting the morning of Dec. 20.
The Angels will play the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants three times and close out the Cactus League with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. They will also play an international friendly match against Team Italy as part of the World Baseball Classic warm up.
Despite the offseason addition of some notable players, namely Albert Pujols, the Angels struggled early in the season last year and dug themselves a hole too deep to climb out of by October. The Angels finished the season 89-73, still a steady improvement from 2011, but not enough to make the playoffs. They finished the year five games behind the Oakland Athletics for the AL West crown.
